I’m Carlos, the founder of Happy Health Benefits. I grew up in Holland, Michigan, earned my master’s in Healthcare Administration, and have been helping people in West Michigan find health coverage they understand and can afford since 2020.

I grew up in Holland, Michigan, and West Michigan has always been home. I went to Eastern Michigan University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree and then my master’s in Healthcare Administration. Studying how the healthcare system works, from hospitals and providers to how care gets paid for, gave me a solid foundation for helping people navigate it.
In 2020 I started selling health insurance, and I quickly saw how confusing it can be for the people buying it. Between deductibles, networks, subsidies, and Medicare’s alphabet of plan types, it’s easy to end up paying too much or losing access to the doctors you trust.
In 2025 I founded Happy Health Benefits as an independent brokerage. Being independent means I don’t work for one insurance company. I compare plans from several carriers and recommend the one that actually fits your needs and budget. Because the carriers pay me, my help is free, and your premium is the same as if you applied on your own.
Today I help individuals, families, people approaching Medicare, and small businesses across Grand Rapids, Holland, and the rest of West Michigan. When you work with me, you get one local person who answers the phone, explains your options in plain language, and is still here when you have questions after you enroll.
